Cary, NC - Wake County's housing market showed steady activity in May, with the typical home price easing slightly to $465,000, down $5,000 from the previous month. The number of homes sold rose to 3,247, up from 3,193 in April, pointing to a consistent market rather than a slowdown. Property-secured loans dipped from April levels but stayed roughly even with the same time last year.
Cary outperformed the countywide trend. The town recorded 193 home sales in May with a median price of $595,000, roughly $130,000 above the county median. The average sale price hit $675,409, boosted by several transactions over $1.5 million. Prices ranged from a nominal $500 for a family property transfer to a high of $2,275,000, showing that Cary's luxury segment remained strong even as broader county prices softened.
Data comes from the Wake County Register of Deeds for May 2026.
