Honeycomb Insurance, a digital insurer specializing in coverage for apartment buildings and condominium associations, has raised $40 million in a new funding round. The round was led by Zeev Ventures, bringing the company's total funding to $95 million. The startup plans to use the capital to expand its artificial intelligence-powered platform, which aims to streamline underwriting and claims processing for commercial real estate clients.
The company's technology analyzes property data, historical claims, and market trends to provide faster quotes and more accurate pricing. Honeycomb says its approach reduces the time it takes to bind a policy from weeks to minutes, a significant improvement in an industry often bogged down by manual paperwork. The new funding will also support hiring in engineering and data science roles, as well as expansion into new geographic markets.
Honeycomb's focus on multi-family properties positions it in a growing niche within the commercial insurance sector. As property owners face rising costs and climate-related risks, the demand for data-driven risk assessment tools has increased. The company's CEO noted that the investment validates their strategy of using AI to solve long-standing inefficiencies in the insurance market. With this latest round, Honeycomb aims to double its policy count over the next year while maintaining its loss ratio targets.
