A single-family home in Mount Morris that sold for $50,000 is leading the list of the best real estate deals in Ogle County in the past two weeks.
The property, located in the 200 block of East Hitt Street, closed on Aug. 25. It offers three bedrooms and one bathroom across roughly 1,200 square feet of living space. County records show the home was built in 1955 and sits on a lot just under a quarter acre. The sale price works out to about $42 per square foot, well below the county average for single-family homes this year.
Other notable transactions during the same period include a ranch-style house in Oregon that fetched $138,000. That home, built in 1978, has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an attached two-car garage. In Rochelle, a two-story home on North 7th Street sold for $165,000 after just 12 days on the market. The property includes four bedrooms and a finished basement.
A condominium in Byron also changed hands for $112,500. The unit features two bedrooms and overlooks the Rock River. Meanwhile, a fixer-upper in Polo sold for $28,000 in cash. That house needs significant repairs, including a new roof and updated electrical work.
Local agents say inventory remains tight across the county, which keeps prices steady for move-in ready homes. Buyers looking for bargains are increasingly turning to properties that need work. The Mount Morris sale stands out because it closed quickly and well under the asking price of $59,900.
