Rutgers Board of Governors Approves Bachelor of Science in Real Estate Degree

The Rutgers Board of Governors has voted to approve a new Bachelor of Science degree in Real Estate. The decision, announced in a press release issued Oct. 13, clears the way for students at Rutgers Business School to pursue a dedicated undergraduate track in the field.

The program is designed to give students a strong foundation in property analysis, finance, law, and urban development. Supporters say it responds to growing demand from employers in commercial real estate, investment firms, and development companies that need graduates with specialized training rather than general business knowledge alone.

Faculty involved in planning the degree say the curriculum will combine classroom instruction with practical experience. Coursework is expected to cover valuation, market analysis, real estate finance, and land use regulation. Students may also have access to internships and industry partnerships that connect them with professionals working across New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area.

University officials describe the approval as a significant step for the business school, which has expanded its offerings in recent years to match shifts in the job market. The real estate sector remains a major part of the regional economy, and backers of the program argue that a formal degree will help Rutgers graduates compete for roles that increasingly require focused academic preparation.

Enrollment details and a start date for the new major have not been fully announced. Additional information is expected to be shared with current and prospective students in the coming months.
