WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The University of New Haven has signed new partnership agreements with four companies working in medical technology, pharmaceuticals, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. The deals are meant to give students more direct paths into these industries while giving the companies access to university research and talent.
School officials said the partnerships will support internships, joint research projects and guest lectures from industry professionals. Students in engineering, health sciences and business programs are expected to benefit most, though the university said the agreements could touch several other fields as well.
The four companies cover a range of specialties. One focuses on medical devices, another works in drug development, a third operates in advanced manufacturing, and a fourth is involved in newer technology sectors. Each will work with the university on workforce development and applied research.
University leaders described the agreements as part of a broader effort to connect classroom learning with real world experience. They said similar partnerships have helped students find jobs after graduation and have given faculty new chances to collaborate with outside experts.
The announcement comes as universities across the country face pressure to show that their programs prepare students for actual careers. The University of New Haven said it plans to announce additional partnerships in the coming months.
