Billionaire Jeff Bezos Is 'Quietly Shopping' $500 Million 'Floating Palace' Superyacht Because It's 'Too Huge'

Billionaire Jeff Bezos is reportedly shopping around his massive superyacht, the Koru, a $500 million vessel that has become a floating landmark in its own right. According to sources familiar with the matter, the Amazon founder is quietly trying to offload the 417-foot-long ship, which is widely considered one of the most expensive and largest sailing yachts in the world.

The reason for the sale? The boat is simply too big. The Koru, which was delivered to Bezos in 2023, is so enormous that it requires a dedicated support vessel to carry extra supplies and toys, including helicopters and jet skis. The sheer size has reportedly made it difficult to dock in many popular ports, limiting the billionaire's ability to travel freely. The yacht also features a prominent wooden sculpture of Bezos's wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, which has drawn significant public attention and media scrutiny. The custom art piece, depicting the former news anchor in a flowing gown, is mounted on the bow and has become a signature, if controversial, element of the ship.

Bezos and Sanchez have been spotted using the yacht extensively, cruising the Mediterranean and Caribbean. However, industry insiders suggest the couple is now looking for something more nimble and practical, or perhaps they simply want to cash out on the record-breaking investment. With a price tag that could rival the GDP of a small nation, finding a buyer for a vessel that requires a full-time crew of 40 and a dedicated dock will be a unique challenge, even in the world of the ultra-wealthy.
